2024 Samuel G. Roberson Jr. Resident Fellowship Recipient Announced – Abby Thompson and Filament Theatre

The League of Chicago Theatres has awarded the 2024 Samuel G. Roberson Jr. Resident Fellowship to artivist Abby Thompson and Filament Theatre to collaborate on development of the play Alex in Windyland. The fellowship is funded by the McMullen & Kime Charitable Trust and administered by the League of Chicago Theatres. The 2024 Samuel G. Roberson Jr. Resident Fellowship is an annual grant awarded to a Black Theatre Artist to fund a residency or collaboration with a Chicago area non-profit organization. Central Area Plan Survey

The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) is currently under-going a two-year planning process to create a 20 year plan that will envision how the city’s central area can better serve Chicago residents, workers, and visitors. Eclectic Full Contact Theatre, in partnership with the Athenaeum Theater, is coordinating a Chicago Theatre Community fundraising event to benefit any and all Chicago theatres that want to participate. Congo Square Theatre Company and Sydney Chatman announced as recipients of 2021 Joyce Awards

Sydney Chatman and Congo Square Theatre Company were announced this week as recipients of the Joyce Foundation’s 2021 Joyce Awards. Since 2003, the Joyce Awards have supported the creation of new work by emerging and mid-career artists of color to foster more culturally vibrant, equitable, and sustainable communities in six Great Lakes cities: Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis-St Paul.
