First Read, a new play development workshop and readings series, seeks first drafts of plays by trans and non-binary theater artists. Produced by ensemble theater company The Syndicate, First Read launched in NYC in 2018 with readings of three new plays by trans artists. Applications now open for 2019 Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theater Award

The League of Chicago Theatres is now accepting applications for the 2019 Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theater Award. The recipient of the award receives $5,000, a consultation and marketing support package with advertising support. The award was created in 2007 to encourage, support and promote young theatres in Chicago that have demonstrated great ability and promise, artistic excellence and fiscal responsibility in business practices. Performance Space Availability at Collaboraction

Collaboraction’s two performance spaces have rental availability in 2019. Collaboraction is located on the third floor of the Flat Iron Arts Building at 1579 North Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park. All performance spaces are wheelchair accessible. The Pentagon (capacity of up to 70) is available to rent for rehearsals and full runs in April and May of 2018 and again from October through the end of the calendar year.
