The Jeff Awards meeting on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Greenhouse Theatre will include a panel discussion on Latinx Theatre. Latinx Theater groups have been forming across the country in the past 10 years. These groups are dedicated to education, advocacy and community amongst Latinx performers. In Chicago, one of the most visible of these groups is ALTA (The Alliance of Latinx Theater Artists of Chicago). The public is invited, and attendance is free. URTA will host the Women+ Theatre Forum, bringing together women+ theatre artists for discussion and advice. The event will galvanize the community by offering support and encouragement in a safe environment, surrounded by peers and veteran artists. URTA’s President, Holly Poe Durbin with UC, Irvine colleague Jane Page, will host the Forum on January 26th from 8pm-9pm at the Palmer House in Chicago, during the URTA Auditions & Interviews (“The URTAs”).
