Equity Quotient’s (EQ)Transforming Ourselves to Transform Our World (TOTOW), one-day workshop offers analytical tools, techniques and processes for participants to learn more about internalized ideologies underlying oppression. EQ believes that in order to achieve social justice in our lives, individual transformation and the healing of internalized ideologies are the foundation upon which everything else rests.
Challenging Racism in Organizations
Currently there is an upsurge among non-profit arts organizations that want to pursue systemic/structural changes in their efforts to make their organizations fully inclusive. They want to eliminate systemic racism and all other forms of oppression within the organization’s culture, policies, programs and practices. What is often lacking in this vision is an understanding and grasp of the fundamental building blocks of organizational equity. In this workshop we will learn to investigate and document how systemic racism and privilege work in the ordinary daily moments of organizational life. We will also learn how to create and measure ways to challenge and transform all types of oppression within an organization to achieve a vision of inclusivity.
