CGTA Tour of Heartland Recycling (Invite Only)

How long have you been dreaming of touring a recycling facility?  For us, it’s been YEARS.  We are thrilled to announce that we have made arrangements with LRS to tour the award-winning, LEED-certified Heartland Recycling Center in Forest View, Illinois!

The 40,000-square-foot facility is called a Material Recovery Facility (MRF, pronounced “murph”), and it was the first in the U.S. to have a Machinex Samurai Sorting Robot, which sorts, separates, and allocates more than 20 tons of waste per hour.  The City of Chicago is an LRS customer; your household recyclables from the Blue Cart Recycling Program are sorted here, and then the recovered materials are shipped to local or Midwest recyclers.

Are you interested in learning about Chicago’s #1 recycling partner?  Our first tour opportunity is Monday, April 18 at 1pm.  Spaces are limited, but we want you to join us!

RSVP below to register for the event, and we will contact you about transportation, what to wear, and what-all to expect. We will be organizing a few carpools for the event and we can also transport people from the Pulaski Orange Line “L” stop which is near the facility.
