Making Gender Inclusive Theatre

Plays and musicals that deal with topics of gender identity are nothing new – though they are beginning to enter mainstream consciousness in new ways. Unfortunately many artistic teams and producers aren’t yet equipped to handle these sensitive subjects with care. In this 90-minute workshop we’ll be introducing how to read a play to assess sensitivity to gender inclusivity, how to build artistic teams to create them, and how to set up a rehearsal room that’s welcoming to people of all genders.

Whether your show is focused on trans, non-binary, or intersex identities, or simply has a cast member with one of those identities, you’ll take away concrete steps to help begin a journey of true gender inclusivity.
