Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25, 10AM – 5PM
The Alice at Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn
The League is once again working with Keryl McCord of Equity Quotient to present a two day Erasing Racism workshop available for all member companies of the League. The aim of the workshop is to build a collective vision for a more just, equitable, more open and transparent, diverse and inclusive theatre community. Workshop attendees will:
– Fully comprehend how racial systems develop and a clear definition of racism, to further understand the difference between equity and equality
– Gain an understanding of the history, systems, policies, and practices that have resulted in exclusive, inequitable, and non-diverse spaces in all strata of our society including theatre in Chicago.
– Work together to create a vision for a healthy theater ecosystem in Chicago that is inclusive, values transparency, commits to the fullest expression of diversity in Chicago, values first voice in art making, and develops a framework of shared vision, values, and principles as tools to use in their work.
Please note that this is a two-day workshop and we expect everyone that RSVPs to attend both full days. Space is limited to 50 people so only four people per organization are allowed, however if you would like additional people from your organization to be considered for attendance contact Ben and we will accommodate if possible.
